The Myra Tiffin Performing Arts School, based in Stony Stratford, begins a brand new timetable for Thursday evenings, with a selection of dance classes taken by Professional Dancer Rosina Andrews.

Classes in Hip Hop, Musical Theatre and Advanced Jazz will bring the school bang up to date with the latest dance trends and techniques. Whilst working in the classes, we will link together the different styles and energies from the students to create an atmosphere perfect for learning and improving your dancing.
Musical Theatre: For pupils aged 12 +.
Fun classes that will change every week, learn the latest routines, musical theatre pieces and experience in all different genres. With Rosina's knowledge of auditions, teaching and the theatrical business, you will learn the most recent routines, so when you go to the theatre you will recognise the moves and see them performed to the highest standard by the professionals giving you an insight into how hard these performers work.

Junior Hip-Hop: For pupils aged 8-12years.
A fast and funky class, learning the latest routines, improving picking up skills and performance for auditions. Having had a week of disciplined school and syllabus dance classes this is a welcome break for these children to let their hair down and have fun meanwhile improving their knowledge and versatility of dance genres from a younger age.
‘Cheryl Cole is my favorite Pop Star and last week we did an awesome dance to her song ‘Fight For this Love’. I practice all the time at home and I love showing my friends what I’ve learnt.’ Sarah aged 8
Advanced Jazz: For pupils GRADE 5 and upwards.
A student a class based on improving stamina, technique and performance with audition technique preparation and knowledge. Please note this is not for the feint hearted! As we realise a lot of our older pupils are just about to take up dancing professionally at further training colleges, it is vital for them to begin to get the mentality and stamina of a full time dance student prior to leaving the school.
‘Last week I was successful in receiving a place at Laine Theatre Arts, Rosina has helped me understand how my body works and how to show it off to my best ability. It is a very tiring class but I now know that I want to pursue a career in dance for definite.’ Nisha aged 16.

ReplyDeleteI really liked the quotations you have included. They are a good marketing tool as it allows people to realise what is being advertised is real and connect with it.
ReplyDeleteIf you made your sentences shorter i feel it would grab more attention and make it easier to digest. (which is important for marketing)
Maybe think about the ways you can make the things achieved/learnt in each different genre sound even more different. That way people will feel they need to do more classes. The line about how hip hop is a good release for the children doing other techniques is a good example of this.
Is the school mainly geared towards children that want to do dance seriously? If so the advert works well, and if i was a child i would have picked your school! However if you want to draw more people in think about making the classes sound more like they are for fun, so people who have never danced do not feel intimidated!

The classes are aimed at children who are already in the school, as it is quite an established dance school, it is quite hard for me to show this is the piece.

Hi, this is nicely written, I do agree it is quite obviously aimed at children already in this school, maybe you could include something for somebody who would be reading it, say a friend of a child already attending to make them also want to join the classes.
ReplyDeleteThe text is nicely paragraphed, however maybe some short sentences would give the piece some more impact, especially where you describe what each class is for and whom.
